In 2026, I’m building a business focused on AI automation for local businesses—and I’m documenting everything publicly. Inspired by Gary Vaynerchuk’s “Crushing It!” philosophy of documenting over creating, I’ll be sharing my entire journey: from building prospect lists and cold outreach to implementing automation systems that actually help local businesses grow. This is my transparent, real-time account of leveraging AI to solve real problems for Main Street businesses.

If you’ve been following my personal branding journey, you know I believe in building in public. This year, I’m taking that principle and applying it to a massive opportunity: bringing enterprise-level automation to businesses that have historically been left behind in the digital revolution.

Why Local Businesses Need AI Automation in 2026

Here’s the reality: while Fortune 500 companies have been automating their operations for years, local businesses are only now catching up—with 66% of businesses having automated at least one business process as of 2024, expected to hit 85% by 2029 Thunderbit. That’s a massive gap, and it represents an enormous opportunity.

The numbers tell a compelling story. The Business Process Automation software market is projected to grow from $13 billion in 2024 to $23.9 billion by 2029 Thunderbit, with much of that growth coming from small and medium-sized businesses finally gaining access to affordable automation tools.

But here’s what really matters: AI automation for local businesses isn’t just about cutting costs—it’s about survival and growth. Local businesses face unique challenges:

  • Limited staff handling multiple roles
  • Tight margins that make every hour count
  • Customer service demands that require 24/7 availability
  • Manual processes that eat up time better spent on growth

The opportunity is clear. Marketing automation alone saw 58% of marketing leaders automate email campaigns, 49% automate social media posts, and 33% automate content management in 2024 FlowForma. These aren’t just enterprise companies—small businesses are seeing real results.

Consider this real-world impact: a multi-location dental practice reduced appointment no-shows by 67% and increased online reviews by 215% within three months by implementing a healthcare-specific marketing automation solution SuperAGI. Another company, Shapeways, experienced a 238% increase in email open rates and a 525% increase in click-through rates SuperAGI through marketing automation.

What I’m Building: My 2026 Mission

My goal for 2026 is straightforward but ambitious: Help 50 local businesses implement AI automation that delivers measurable results. I’m not interested in selling software licenses or one-size-fits-all solutions. I want to build custom automation systems that solve specific problems for real businesses.

Here’s what I’m committing to:

Goal #1: 50 Active Clients by December 2026
I’ll be working with restaurants, retail stores, professional services, healthcare practices, and other local businesses to automate their most time-consuming processes.

Goal #2: Focus on High-Impact Automation
My target is implementing automation in these key areas:

  • Customer communication and appointment scheduling
  • Inventory and order management
  • Marketing and social media management
  • Financial processes like invoicing and payment collection
  • Customer data management and CRM

Goal #3: Document Real ROI
Every client project will be measured. I’m tracking time saved, revenue increased, costs reduced, and customer satisfaction improved. These aren’t vanity metrics—they’re the numbers that matter to business owners.

Goal #4: Build a Replicable System
By the end of 2026, I want to have developed a proven methodology that other aspiring automation consultants can follow. That’s the power of documenting in public.

The Journey: What You’ll See Me Document

This is where the Gary Vee philosophy comes in. I’m not just going to show you the wins—I’m going to show you everything. The good, the bad, the failures, and the breakthroughs. Here’s what I’ll be sharing throughout 2026:

Phase 1: Foundation (January – March 2026)

Building My Prospect Database
I’ll show you exactly how I’m using AI tools to identify and qualify local businesses that are prime candidates for automation. This includes:

  • Scraping business directories and local listings
  • Using AI to analyze business types and pain points
  • Building scoring systems to prioritize outreach
  • Creating detailed ideal customer profiles

Developing Outreach Systems
Cold outreach is an art and a science. I’ll document my entire approach:

  • Crafting personalized email sequences using AI
  • Testing different messaging frameworks
  • Tracking response rates and conversion metrics
  • Optimizing follow-up cadences

Creating Service Packages
What should AI automation for local businesses actually include? I’ll share:

  • How I’m pricing different automation services
  • Packages for different business types and budgets
  • The tools and platforms I’m using
  • My delivery timeline and process

Phase 2: Client Acquisition (April – June 2026)

Real Cold Outreach Campaigns
Every week, I’ll share exactly how many businesses I contacted, what I said, and what happened. You’ll see:

  • Actual email templates (with results)
  • Discovery call frameworks
  • Objection handling tactics
  • Closing strategies

Need Assessment Process
Once I get businesses interested, how do I figure out what they actually need? I’ll document:

  • My discovery call structure
  • Questions that reveal automation opportunities
  • How to translate business problems into technical solutions
  • Red flags that indicate a prospect isn’t a good fit

Phase 3: Implementation (July – October 2026)

Real Client Projects
This is where it gets exciting. With client permission, I’ll showcase actual automation projects:

  • A local restaurant automating reservation management and customer communication
  • A retail store implementing inventory tracking and automated reordering
  • A professional services firm streamlining client onboarding and billing
  • A healthcare practice automating appointment reminders and follow-ups

For each project, you’ll see:

  • The problem we’re solving
  • The tools and technologies we’re using
  • The implementation timeline
  • Challenges we encountered (and how we solved them)
  • Measurable results and ROI

My Tech Stack
I’ll be transparent about every tool I use, including:

  • AI platforms and LLMs
  • No-code/low-code automation tools
  • CRM and database solutions
  • Communication and scheduling platforms
  • Integration tools that connect everything together

Phase 4: Scale (November – December 2026)

Systematizing Delivery
How do you go from serving 5 clients to 50 without burning out? I’ll share:

  • Creating repeatable processes and templates
  • Building documentation and training materials
  • Hiring and delegating (if needed)
  • Quality control systems

Building a Business, Not Just a Service
The goal isn’t just to be a freelancer—it’s to build a scalable business. I’ll document:

  • Creating standard operating procedures
  • Developing productized services
  • Building case studies and testimonials
  • Planning for 2027 and beyond

The Gary Vaynerchuk “Crushing It!” Approach

Why am I doing all of this in public? Because Gary Vaynerchuk was right: document, don’t create.

Here’s what that means in practice:

Documenting builds authenticity. I’m not pretending to be an expert with all the answers. I’m learning and growing alongside you. When something doesn’t work, you’ll hear about it. When I have a breakthrough, you’ll be the first to know.

Documenting creates accountability. By putting my goals out there publicly, I’m committing to them. It’s harder to give up when thousands of people are watching your journey.

Documenting builds authority naturally. Rather than creating theoretical content about what might work, I’m showing you what actually works in the real world. That’s far more valuable.

Documenting helps others. Maybe you’re a local business owner wondering if automation is right for you. Maybe you’re an aspiring consultant looking to break into this space. By sharing everything, I’m giving you a roadmap—complete with all the potholes marked.

This approach has worked for countless entrepreneurs building their personal brands, and it’s perfect for this journey because AI automation for local businesses is still a relatively new field. We’re all figuring this out together.

Who Should Follow This Journey?

Join Me on This Journey

The statistics are clear: automation frees up 82% of sales teams to focus on building stronger client relationships Vena, and 88% of employees report higher job satisfaction and 84% report greater company satisfaction as a result of using automation to streamline tasks Vena. This isn’t theoretical—it’s happening right now.

Local businesses deserve access to the same powerful tools that big corporations use. My mission is to make that happen, one business at a time, while sharing everything I learn along the way.

Over the next 12 months, you’ll see me build prospect lists using AI, reach out to hundreds of businesses, close my first clients, implement automation systems, measure results, and scale the entire operation. Some days will be wins. Some days will be failures. But every day will be documented.

What’s coming next?
In my next post, I’ll be sharing my complete prospect research methodology—exactly how I’m using AI to build a database of 500+ qualified local business prospects in my first week. You’ll see the tools I use, the prompts I write, and the results I get.

If you want to follow along, bookmark this page, subscribe to updates, or check back regularly. And if you’re a local business owner interested in learning more about AI automation for local businesses, reach out—I’d love to hear about your challenges.
